If you're struggling to get into the Christmas spirit, what better than a hearty festive sing-song? Of course, most churches are holding their own services in December so check out what your local church is offering. We've pulled together a few extra options for those in search of carols. If you have one we haven't listed, let us know in the comments or on social media.
Christmas events seem to happen earlier and earlier each year, so you’ve probably noticed a few events taking place already. Don’t worry though – there are still plenty of events lined up for those of us who like to keep Christmas in December! Most attractions are having their own celebration in one form or another, but here are some highlights you might otherwise miss.
Halloween is nearly upon us, and the South-West is a treasure trove of terrifying tales, from the hairy hands of Dartmoor to the devil hounds of Bodmin. We've gouged out 3 spooky stories from North Cornwall that you may not have heard before. Cushions at the ready!
Everyone knows you can get a fantastic cream tea in Cornwall (see our blog post here for ideas), but what about those of us who need a good coffee to get us going in the morning? More and more cafés seem to be investing in coffee machines and staff training these days, but we've chosen 5 independent cafes around North Cornwall that have taken it one step further. Forget Costa and Starbucks - for a very special caffeine hit, call in to one of these great coffee shops and prepare to be impressed. Do you have a different recommendation? Drop it into the comments below.
Are you looking for something to do this August bank holiday? Most local attractions have something lined up, but here is a selection of great events that you may miss. Have we missed one? Let us know in the comments!

Cornwall is blessed with some of the finest local produce of any region in the UK, and what better way to celebrate it than at one of our great food festivals? Many of events include some great edibles, but here are 5 festivals still to come this Summer that focus on food! If we missed your favourite, add it to the comments below.
One of the joys of living in a rural area is the fresh produce available from local farms. Many corner shops and supermarkets are getting better at stocking local produce, and of course the farmer’s markets at Bude and Launceston are well worth a visit, but still the best bet for those of us wanting easy regular access to great food with a low carbon footprint is always going to be the farm shops. We’ve rounded up the ones we know of in the area. If we’ve missed your favourite, let us know in the comments below.
We feel hugely privileged to be located in the upper Tamar Valley as you can probably tell from our name. It’s hard to imagine that the gentle river at the bottom of our hill is the same that is spanned by the Brunel bridge at Plymouth. This remarkably unspoilt area is still completely new to many of our visitors so are our 5 top reasons for visiting the Tamar Valley.
Feeling peckish? Fancy something something fancy but nothing too formal? The area of North Cornwall and Devon is peppered with great options for eating out, from simple pub grub to first-class fine dining. If you're looking for a special meal out without the formality, here are fantastic 5 local bistros and gastro-pubs - booking ahead is advised. We couldn't possibly list all the great venues or even choose between our 5, but if you'd like to mention your favourite, drop it into the comments below.
